Wednesday’s child: Rosa and Henrietta Adams

Young sisters Rosa E. Adams (d. 1853) and Henrietta H. Adams (d. 1853) died ten days apart. They are buried side by side, each marker carved with a down-turned rose and broken bud.

Touchingly, each child has her own sweetly personal epitaph.

ROSA E.
Daughter of
D. & E. ADAMS
Died Nov. 1, 1853
Aged 2 Y’s 7 Mo. 25 d’s

Tis here our little Rosa lies
A cherube lent us from the skies
For near three years this flower was given,
Transplanted then, to bloom in Heaven.

Aged 1 year 20 d’s

Here lies our little Netta lovely dear
Her stay with us but one brief year
Tho her loved form in Silence lies,
She’s now an angel in the Skies.
